Drum Corps International Media Credential Terms and Conditions

Media credentials are issued for official business only. Working press wishing to access a Drum Corps International (DCI) event MUST request media credentials through DCI in writing. Freelancers must also submit proof of assignment signed by their editor in addition to their request submission. DCI at its sole discretion may determine who is or is not DCl-recognized media and has the right to grant access at its sole discretion as well.

By accepting a credential, the journalist and entity accept and agree to the terms and conditions for media credentials and a limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable permit to access a DCI event for news coverage.

1. If credentials are granted they should be received at the event’s Will Call or Press Check-in area.
2. No spouses or children, except those performing in a working capacity, will be allowed in any DCI event venue, press box or on the sideline. This will be strictly enforced.
3. Credentials must be visibly worn at all times and only the person whose name appears on the credential will be allowed to use it.
4. Field access will only be granted for working media photographers.
5. Each journalist shall:
   1. Follow the direction of the contest coordinator, DCI staff, event volunteers and stadium management
   2. Not approach, ask questions or request interviews from corps performers or their immediate staff before or during their performance and warm up
   3. Avoid blocking high traffic areas or walking through a uniformed drum corps ensemble during their warm up or while en route to and from the stadium
   4. Not sit within stands or access the field unless granted permission
   5. Not use golf carts, unless being transported by event staff
6. Arrangements for interviews may be made prior to the event within the working media area.
7. Each journalist and entity assumes all risks and danger incidental to the activity of the event, occurring before, during or after a performance. Each journalist and entity further releases DCI and DCI events, their respective employees, members, directors, officers, host sites, title sponsors, host organizations, participating corps and all agents thereof, from all liability which may result from injuries or loss of personal property or equipment associated with access to DCI events.
8. Each Journalist and entity agrees to abide by DCI Community Code of Conduct and Ethics Guidelines which can be found on DCI.org. DCI reserves the right to request removal of any media not deemed to appropriately serve the Participant or Organization.
9. Credentials are NON-TRANSFERABLE and are issued on a single-event basis. Credentials may not be altered in any way or used for multiple events. Drum Corps International reserves the right to revoke any credential used by an individual not fully accredited, or any individual not in compliance with press box and/or field photography standards, practices and policies.
10. All Credentials remain the property of Drum Corps International. Persons in violation of this policy as determined by Drum Corps International event staff will be required to surrender their credential and leave the stadium.

Photography Credential Policies

1. All persons possessing photo credentials must have proper professional equipment and be shooting actual live event action.
2. No cameras are permitted in the sideline area other than those shooting in a working capacity for official media organizations.
3. Sideline credentials will be limited to one (1) photographer and video person per media organization.
4. Broadcasting reporters will not be permitted to the sideline during performances.
5. Sideline access is restricted to working photographers from approved media outlets and is extremely limited.
6. Drum Corps International reserves the right to restrict and/or rescind sideline passes at any time, at its sole discretion.
7. Granted field access is for the front sideline only. Photographers must stay behind the restraining line established by on-site Contest Director and are not allowed on the playing field at any time for any reason.
8. All DCI credentials must be visibly worn at all times and presented to authorized field personnel to gain field access when permitted.
9. Anyone wearing a photo credential and not shooting performance action will be required to surrender their credentials and leave the stadium immediately.
10. Photographs or videos must be taken in public view, observe accepted standards of decency and must appropriately serve the best interest of the Performer and Organization.

Photographic Usage Rights

Photos captured during or on location at DCI produced or sanctioned events are restricted for EDITORIAL USE ONLY in publication by the media agency requesting the credential. They may not otherwise be sold or displayed in any way and for any purpose without the specific written permission of Drum Corps International. This includes but is not limited to:

1. Publication in any form other than that which was specifically authorized through granting of credentials
2. Any derivative works including artistic reinterpretations, stylizations, composite images, or adaptations
3. Personal or commercial websites or social media accounts (except as authorized above)
4. Any direct or indirect sales to individuals and/or other entities
5. Any distribution, free or otherwise, to individuals and/or other entities
6. Portfolio use or any other use other than those specifically agreed to in writing from DCI

By accepting a photography credential, photographers understand and agree that DCI is deemed the agent of any person whose photograph is taken under the license of these regulations, and may pursue all remedies for a violation of said individual’s rights of privacy or publicity by you or any third party to which you license or sell any photograph.
